Firefox 2.0 released

Firefox 2.0 has been released. IE7 was recently released also. I have been using the beta version too and it's pretty good. The thing I like the most about it is the integrated spell checker. Also, there is the ability to restore your browser to the previous session before it crashed or was closed. This means there is no more need for the SessionSaver addon.

You can read more about the latest features in Firefox 2.0 here. You can download it here.

I truly beg to differ. Firefox 2.0 is the reason I have yet to upgrade my computer from Dapper Drake to Edgy Eft.

SessionSaver users have been begging for an upgrade to the extension that works properly with Fx2.o. The problem is that 2.0 only restores a previous session if firefox closed because of a crash. SessionSaver users are accustomed to being able to store multiple save points, and recall them whenever they want. In addition, sessionsaver restores the previous session by default, essentially meaning you never actually have to do anything. You can shutdown your computer with firefox open, and the next time you open firefox, everything will be exactly where you left it. I just can't live without that type of functionality, thus waiting til SS is upgraded until I can install the latest Ubuntu, or Fx2.0 anywhere for that matter.

I know the problem that you are talking about and there's a workaround for it. Why this is not the default option beats me. Anyway, a search on Google Blog Search (I knew I read it in some blog, but couldn't remember where so...) produces this result result where there are instructions on how to change it to restore every time.

From looking at the first comment, I was able to see where I originally got the tip from: Lifehacker. There are also some other very good tips on configuring Firefox there.
